For Three Star Books, Parker Ito has interpreted three etchings from Albrecht Dürer’s “Meistertische” series into colored self-portraits, thus rendering the original titles of “Knight Death and the Devil”, “Melencolia 1”, ”Saint Jérome in his Study” into: “Me, Death, and the Devil”, “Melencolia 2”, “Me in my Study”.
Each volume mimics a wood block printing progression of colors into five different “states” including a final black etching upon the fifth state.

A print of the etching printed in black concludes each volume.
The booksleeve of each volume has been covered with handmade silk-screened paper from Japan and cover titles are silk-screened in silver ink.

Title pages and colophons are letterpressed in red ink.

Note that the title page font has been modified by the artist from the original typeset.

This edition is comprised of 3 volumes each containing 11 signatures which includes end pages as follows:
- 1 blank signature
- 1 title signature
- 5 signatures with a progression of the colors
- 1 signature with all colors and the black etching bonded on top of the paper
- 1 signature with the black etching only
- 1 colophon signature
- 1 blank signature
