Since his notable work "God Nose" in 1965, John Baldessari has established a predilection for noses. Despite frequently concealing faces with color dots, the recurring appearance of this facial feature, either in isolation or alongside a pair of ears, is not a mere coincidence.
Within Baldessari's body of work, we encounter an exploration of various themes and their symbolic implications. These include the celebration of sensory experiences, contemplation of identity and its complexities, all while maintaining an evident interest in the works of Magritte. These thematic elements have significantly influenced and shaped the trajectory of his artistic practice.
