Scores
BlackMass Publishing | Gerard & Kelly | Raffaella della Olga
Print becomes pulse, typography becomes breath, and text becomes choreography. Each score opens a space where bodies, voices, and silences echo across the paper.
On the occasion of Printed Matter’s Art Book Fair 2025 in New York, Three Star Books is pleased to present a project titled Scores, featuring three distinct artist contributions.
Gerard & Kelly will present RUG, a performance score for one dancer and one musician. All pages of the score will be displayed across 11 music stands, forming a sculptural installation. The project explores the artists’ ongoing concerns: gender, architecture, and dance.
BlackMass Publishing will debut their latest collaboration with Three Star Books—an open, multi-part publication that reads like a free jazz score. Each time the work is activated or displayed, it invites a new interpretation. Rooted in Black American culture, this project pushes into abstraction while maintaining BMP’s strong political and cultural focus.
Raffaella della Olga will show a selection of recent works, all conceived as possible musical notations for imaginary improvisations—preludes to her upcoming solo exhibition at the Clark Art Institute in November.
Together, these works explore the book as a site for rhythm, structure, and improvisation.
Along with these projects, we will present STOD by John Armleder Maurizio Cattelan’s fourth volume of his ongoing monograph and Erica Baum’s large artist’s book: FABRICATIONS.
