In addition to her Three Star Books project, “FABRICATIONS,” Erica Baum has created a series of “coupon” diptych. These coupons were originally interspersed within the pages of FABRICATIONS, but in a smaller size. Sourced from American periodicals from the 1950s to the 1970s, these coupons were used to entice new magazine subscribers and offer discounts on a range of products, from gadgets to books.
Twelve diptychs of oversized coupon prints unveil intricate details that are not usually discernible to the naked eye, including the texture of the paper and the idiosyncrasies of old-school printing. These visually captivating prints are presented within stained wood artist’s frames.
